In collaboration with Petra Verkade we have drawn her inspiration from the Japanese island Naoshima – better known as the art island, translated into this unique limited edition.

Naoshima is known as Japan’s “art island” – a place where modern architecture, nature, and art seamlessly come together. The sleek concrete lines of the museums create a striking contrast with the sea and gentle landscape. This play of raw and refined, combined with the recognizable dots and patterns of Yayoi Kusama, forms the soul of this design.

A towel that designed with love for travel. Soft, lightweight, and full of color, this towel brings a touch of Japanese art to every beach.

Rated 4.8/5 by Dutch travel experts!

For every travel towel we donate a portion to The Siebold House in Leiden, which showcases the beauty of Japanese art, tradition, and design through its exhibitions. This way, you pass on a piece of Japan – even from the Netherlands.

With a deep fascination for Japanese art and culture, she wants to give something back to the place that shaped her creativity. The tranquility, craftsmanship, and playful imperfections of Naoshima are not only the soul of this design – they reflect her own artistic journey.

Limited edition

In collaboration with Petra Verkade, we translated her fascination with Japan - its clean aesthetic and the balance between art, architecture, and nature - into a unique Limited Edition design, inspired by the Japanese art island of Naoshima.

Buvanha X Petra Verkade

“This towel is more than just a travel essential – it’s a tribute to Japanese culture, inspired by the art island of Naoshima, a place where architecture, nature and art come together in perfect harmony.

I am struck by the balance between structure and softness – the clean concrete lines contrasting with the sea, the light and the shadows.

In my design I wanted to capture exactly that feeling of peace and attention – combined with playful shapes and patterns that subtly refer to my great source of inspiration Yayoi Kusama.

A unique design with a story

A unique design with a story

A unique design inspired by Japan

For her towel design, Petra was inspired by the special atmosphere of Naoshima – a place where modern architecture, contemporary art and untouched nature meet.

With this design she aims to capture not only the aesthetics of Japanese craftsmanship, but also the sense of balance, creativity and inner peace that characterizes this island.

Support SieboldHuis

“For this Limited Edition, I chose the SieboldHuis as the charity – a museum that showcases the beauty of Japanese art, tradition and design through its exhibitions.

Because my design is so strongly connected to Japanese culture, it feels extra special to be able to share a piece of Japan here in the Netherlands through this collaboration.”

For every towel sold, we donate €1 directly to the SieboldHuis, to support their work and continue to strengthen the connection between cultures.
